The Calling
God calls men to the priesthood in different ways. We are all called by God to a particular way of life: priesthood, religious life, married life, or single life. Unless we are attentive and prayerful, we may miss His call in our life. If one senses the call of God to the priesthood, diligent discernment including the Vocation Director is key. This process of discerning the call may take months or years to fully understand God’s plan.
Seminary
Seminary is still a deep time of discernment of God’s call in a man’s life. It is also a time of academic study in philosophy and theology. During their time in seminary a man is accompanied by a formator and spiritual director. Seminary is a time where the four dimensions of formation (human, spiritual, intellectual, and pastoral) are integrated at each level of the four stages of seminary formation (propaedeutic, discipleship, configuration, and vocational synthesis).
